Opening Ceremony for Tugu Pahlawan Kanowit


KANOWIT: The bloody incident in Latent sloth, Ngemah River 46 years ago now will be remembered forever as the names of the 12 members of the Army Border (Border Scout) who died during the battle with the communists on August 27, 1970, finally engraved in Tugu Pahlawan Kanowit district inaugurated yesterday.

In addition to being a symbol and landmark Kanowit, Heroes Monument was built to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those fighters who defend the country's sovereignty will always be appreciated and celebrated by all citizens of the country in particular and Kanowit general.

"Today (yesterday) was a historical day for us to commemorate the heroes of the homeland who died while fighting in defense of national sovereignty of the communist terrorist threat a long time ago.

"This monument was built to honor the service and sacrifice them for the sake of defending the country, thus enabling the younger generation to understand the history of our country when plagued communist threat," said Chairman of Parti Bumiputera (PBB) Machan Datuk Gramong Juna when opening the Tugu Pahlawan Kanowit in Fort Emma Square here yesterday.

The names of the 12 members of the Army Boundary listed in Tugu Pahlawan Kanowit are those who have lost their lives fighting in Latent sloth, Ngemah River on August 27, 1970, that Corporal Linked Kelen, Cpl Lat Ganges, BS Monitor Baro, BS Kanchan Ligan, BS Gela Humor, Dry EMBA BS, BS Glad Instill, BS Skudan Dampa, Jantom Jalong BS, BS Jantom Narok, Brain Research Agencies BS, BS Luyoh Jaul and Cpl Kong Siew Long (Special Branch Kanowit) who died in 1969.

"We became concerned that if there is a short circuit again. For this case, it is categorized as a disaster before it is assessed and reported JPNS to be developed to the Department of Education's Office (PMO).

"Application will be made to the provisions bercana. But PWD assessment will be made to assess the damage and the aid applied to the PMO under the provisions of the disaster, "he said.

He further assured that it will not take long to be implemented to help the school of misfortune.

Commenting on the occasion, Fatimah hoped that every society has a curiosity to interact, socialize and understand each other's customs, rituals associated with the festival include creating a sense of mutual respect.
